Re: Automatically update parent node checkstate
« Reply #1 on: April 30, 2009, 05:08:41 PM »
Hello Martin,

You can easily enable this feature for every node by changing the node`s InteractiveCheckMode property.
Available modes:
eInteractiveCheckMode.Disabled - node will have just a check state and will not depend from children nodes check state;
eInteractiveCheckMode.ManualChangeDenied - node will have the auto-calculated check state (interactive, according to the node`s children nodes check state) which you or user (in run-time) can`t change;
eInteractiveCheckMode.ManualChangeAllowed - node will have the auto-calculated check state (interactive, according to the node`s children nodes check state) which you or user (in run-time) may change.
Please node that if you enable interactive check state and allow to change it manually (ManualChangeAllowed) then changes of the parent`s check state will reflect to all children  nodes respectively.

So the common pattern here is:
Node parent = new Node("I`m a parent");
// calculate parent node`s check state and deny to change it elsewhere
parent.InteractiveCheckMode = eInteractiveCheckMode.ManualChangeDenied;
Node child = new Node("child");
child.AttachTo(parent);
child.CheckState = eCheckState.Checked;
.... add more children here.....

If you have any other questions, please ask us.
